The work of the Society
The Society has a widening range of projects:
Commenting
to local authorities on planning applications affecting Arts and Crafts
buildings
Publications: a reprint of The
Word in the Pattern by Mary Watts, a second edition of Nature and Tradition
- Arts and Crafts Architecture and Gardens in and around Guildford and
MH Baillie Scott - The Surrey Contribution - Work of an Arts and Crafts
Architect. All available from the Society
Oral
history recording - recordings completed of people with recollections
of Farnham Pottery. The Society is keen to further this project
Recording
of Surrey's Arts and Crafts buildings – a new project, for which a database
and format for identifying buildings have now been designed
Supporting
the restoration of Farnham
Pottery, a rare survivor of a Victorian country pottery, with a
photographic recording of the buildings
Donations
to appropriate projects, such as the binding with a leather spine of
copies of the Gertrude Jekyll garden plans, held at Godalming Museum;
support for the purchase of the
Halnaker collection of Jekyll drawings by the Surrey History Centre
Expansion
of this web site with articles on Arts and Crafts and related topics.
